Happy Birthday to our youngest, no longer a baby, toddler Mercedes. She was 2 yesterday, amid the hustle and bustle of a busy Thursday (seems to be the busiest day of the week). Our little girl had a pretty normal day until dinner time when she was inundated with presents and birthday cake. She did not go to sleep before 10pm! From now on, the presents come in the morning!
Happy Birthday Merc!
Why mostly about Erin? Because there are a few things that still stick in my head about yesterday, that she did.
We were out birthday shopping for Mercedes upcoming 2nd birthday when I had the two little ones in the trolley. Erin wanted closer to the shelves so she pulled on the shelves to pull the trolley closer. The shelves didn't fall down but the trolley tipped on it's side with both of the kids in it. I thought that there had to be a broken bone at least, but there wasn't so much as a bruise on either of them, fortunately. Merc though had a huge fright and was crying and I couldn't calm her for a bit. And yes, Erin did get in trouble and an explanation of why mummy had asked her not to pull on the shelves. I hope she learnt her lesson.
Then this morning she was playing with Jade and Jade announced that Erin was her slave! Tomorrow my baby/toddler turns two! Though we are having the present giving on Friday when hubby can be here
I think it is about time I blogged on here. Life has been very busy lately and everytime i think of something to blog it is gone by the time i get a few spare minutes to myself, which are rare indeed. With school and extra curricular activities starting my days have filled up fast, plus on top of that I started a new (though small) business venture at the begining of this week. I am happy with the progress that has been made with it.
In order to give my kids quality time I have sought to do the majority of work for the business venture late at night after they are asleep, or when they are working on their own for school. This is not always possible as Jade still needs a lot of coaching and Erin and Mercedes do demand a lot of my time unless I give them some water to play in, then I get an hour free to concentrate on schoolwork.
The other night though, I took time off to watch 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. It was an alright movie though long and we started it late so that was a late night for me, followed by an early morning to drive hubby to the train station. The weekend is here now and I can catch up on housework as I have just completed the next installment of my lessons. Now I have time to do my art class homework, make Mercedes a pink kilt for her birthday and plan out what we are going to do for it, since hubby most likely won't be there for it. (He is a work-aholic or so it seems)
Merc (almost 2) just walked up to me and took my hand and led me to the toilet. She needed to go. I think she is starting to toilet train herself. Though, I am not ready to take her out of nappies just yet. My baby is growing up!
Tantrums and fights.
The culprits - Erin & Mercedes
I think Merc woke up on the wrong side of the bed today as she has been throwing lots of wobblies and asking for food from the fridge but when we get there all she wants to do is play with the pumpkin! I had enough of her last tantrum at not getting what she wanted and her screaming like a banchee, so I put her in her cot with a bottle and left her to calm down on her own. All is silent. If she is asleep I think I may go down myself.
Why am I tired?
I was up till 11.30pm last night trying to see what I could do about the 3.5hr delay of my sisters flight. She was due in at 10pm. She got in at 1.30am. So, I had 1 hrs sleep before I went and picked her up, got home 2 hrs later, dealt with a baby who had woken up while I wasn't there and daddy hadn't woken up to tend to her. Add an extra half hour onto that and then I got a blissful 3-3.5hrs sleep before waking up to take hubby to the train so I could use the car today.
The day so far has been filled with the two younger ones getting on my and their nerves. We have swimming lessons this arvo...ugh...and baby hasn't gone to sleep but has calmed down some. I think I will get her out for half hour, try to have an hour nap before I must get up, head to the bank, then to swimming lessons and finally home. Ugh...I need sleep!
