Bribie Beach Bash 2010

What a load of fun this was. It isn’t over the top, lots of bright colours and flashy prizes type event, but a close and personal type of event (and it’s growing!). It is held yearly, on the surf side (eastern side) of Bribie Island.

Bribie Beach Bash this year saw a lot more competitors then the previous years with most runners able to enjoy the dolphins playing in the surf as the runners dashed across the sand.

This year I chose to do 10km, instead of the 6km I did last year, and it was about the 6km mark this year that I was feeling it and wondering why i had chosen the longer event. The run was nice, the weather conditions perfect (slight drizzle at the beginning but it fined up to light cloud cover later on). The sand was also firm underfoot and the beach slope wasn’t as angled as last year. There was one creek crossing about 500m from the turn around point and it was cold, and flowing fast. It definitely added a twist and a break to the run. At about the 7km mark I finally got into the run, found myself and started singing the same 4 lines to a song, over and over in my head. In the end, I came in 2min under my chosen finishing time, so I was happy with that, but also understanding that there was so much more I could have put into this if I had been training regularly. I definitely would have felt better at the end instead of drained. I guess this is what I get for ignoring my training and being sick, moving house and generally letting life get in the way (which included sleeping lots).

I hate writing titles as they never seem to fit.
Now times for some updates.

Cooking
I am still continuing to try new and interesting recipes and making notes on what I am cooking, the changes I make and what it would go well with in preparation for e-courses. E-courses though have been a little slow this year though last year's content still seems to be of interest. I will continue with this as who know s where the future might lead.

Animals
Smaug & Sloth (bearded dragons)
They seem to be growing well though Smaug still has his problems. Lately he has been seen to be shaking and with bad eye to mouth co-ordination so I swapped him to a different enclosure with a different light. Since going into this enclosure, he has brightened up in colour, as has sloth, become a happier dragon with a better appetite. Sloth, is still going great though and I have no problems with her except that she doesn't like to eat in front of people.

Central Netted Dragons
Well they are a little fat but that will work well with the coming cool months when they should hibernate or at least become less active. Sleepy is growing well and looks like his dad (small boss). He still has sight difficulties but it doesn't stop him from doing anything either. The only thing that makes me think, is if it is a male or female!

Lawn Update

Well I have started and done 4 hours so far. I am in desperate need of a shower and clean clothes. I only mowed the back on the highest setting, while the front was reasonable enough to do on a low/moderate setting.
Tomorrow I will finish off the lawn by mowing it on a low setting. And cleaning up the grass!

After I get back from my morning out to relax.

Lawns!

What do you do when you can't get someone else to mow your lawn?
Hire the right equipment and do it yourself!

I am doing the lawns this arvo, or at least starting them. It is costing slightly more then if I had someone else come to mow them but no one is calling me back and the lawns really need it!

Before and after photos to come (if I remember)

Gym

I have been going to the gym for a few weeks now, as well as the personal trainer. It has been good though grueling.
I am starting to see the benefits of going to the gym and consuming more water.
My complexion has become better, body is functioning better even if it does ache after doing something different from normal.

Right now my main focus in the gym work is to increase my cardio by watching the sunrise from the confines of a treadmill. Of course I don't just do that, I do a few crunches on the fit ball (until my stomach aches too much to do them anymore) and attack some of the other cardio machines. All this gym work is accompanied by a bike ride there and back on my treadly (bike).
The ride there is easy, as it is mostly downhill, while the ride home is mostly uphill, though our street is the only real challenge.

Why am I doing this? Hubby is turning 40 this year, I am turning 31 this year and I have 4 kids to keep up with (3 of whom are very active). I want to keep my health, have some me time (I get this as the sun rises most weekdays), and look good for my man.

Now onto the day, which is filled with housework, schoolwork, sewing and carving polystyrene foam.
