These meatballs are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. This recipe is a little plain but could easily be spiced up.
250 | g | mince |
1⁄2 | c | self raising flour |
1 | egg | |
for frying | ||
1⁄2 | c | polenta/corn meal |
Please note that these are basic instructions and the amounts can be changed to suit the individual.
1. Heat a fry pan/saucepan and add a little oil, enough to cover the bottom.
2. In a bowl, combine the mince, flour, and egg. This can be quite sticky, so you will want to get as much off before washing your hands.
3. Roll the mince mixture into small balls, and then roll in the polenta until they are covered.
4. When the oil is hot, place in the meatballs and cook until golden (make sure there is no pink showing). You will need to turn the meatballs either with a pair of tongs or a slotted spoon.
Serve with pasta and your favourite pasta sauce.
These are only plain meatballs and should hopefully tempt even a fussy child.
For kids who don't like pasta sauce, try using plain tomato sauce instead.
